Transformative Acting: Projections

“Why do I feel like I’m going to get caught? Why do I say yes when I want to say no?
Why do I build stories in which I suffer?”

Projections are our attempt to “protect” ourselves by attributing our fears or desires onto someone else. Unconscious, and therefor hidden from plain view, but not invisible. When we are brave enough, and humble enough, to see our true self then we step out of the story and into reality. It is here, in reality: humble and honest, that we can create from an authentic space. Creating a character from behind the story is like painting with a veil between you and the canvas.

We fight to the death to ensure that our stories of self-image are proved true. We will self-sabotageto prove we are cursed, unlucky or not worthy. We will be jealous and suspicious until we prove that our person will leave us. We will judge and criticize everyone and everything around us until we alienate ourselves and prove that we are alone in this world. Freeing yourself of projections and the stories behind them will be disorientating, disturbing and scary but ultimately, liberating.

This class offers an opportunity to expose the projection and share the story behind it. The witnessing of which will not allow you to ever fully step back behind the story. There will always be a light of truth shining on you. In an intimate and authentic way, you will be in relationship with those parts of yourself that are asking for the most help. The beauty in exploring through your craft is that your purpose is self-care, self-growth… evolving.

This approach will deepen your characters in a way that few get to experience. It will allow you to look at every character as an opportunity to strengthen, sharpen, elevate and improve yourself, your relationships and your craft – at the same time. It is potent and powerful work that will translate into people being “moved and inspired” by you.
