Actors, writers, producers, you’ve finished that film script, you ‘re almost done with your pilot. Who reads it? Who will take the time to read and give constructive notes? The most VITAL thing you could right now… workshop it with actors. Experience it in the flesh and it becomes blaringly clear what works, what doesn’t and what is the gold.
In this class, I will guide you through the process of finishing a script, into a ‘directed casting’ …choosing actors to test the characters you’ve written. Then we will work the most important scenes and corner stones of your story to uncover where the AUTHENTIC voices are, to reveal where the TRUE human experiences are that become the hooks for your reader and eventually the audience.
You will get to breathe life into something that has only existed in your head. You’ll be able to meet and interreact with your characters and have such a deeper understanding of the what, where, when, how but most importantly, why? You’ll be able to pitch and discuss your story in a way most writers can’t… because they haven’t workshopped it with actors.
You must have a script, or at least almost finished script. The workshop will move quickly, and I’ll help you to not be precious about it… I’ve got twenty years of doing this with writers, directors and showrunners. I’ll help you find the heart of the story and the truth of each character so you can feel confident submitting it to anyone… anywhere.
