OPEN SUBMISSION

The Humanity Project invites playwrights to submit original works that explore the conflicts of humanity vs. artificial intelligence as we see it today. We are seeking compelling, challenging plays between 8-14 pages in length that wrestle with fundamental questions of what it means to be human. Submissions are accepted across seven genres: drama, comedy, thriller, horror, science fiction, romance, and surrealism. All plays must be set in the modern day or no more than 10 years into the future, grounding these profound explorations in the world we know, or are about to face.

The competition features three distinct categories based on cast size: 2-person, 3-person, and 4- person plays. This structure allows writers to focus on intimate character dynamics while pushing the boundaries of theatrical storytelling. Whether examining relationships, societal pressures, moral dilemmas, or existential threats, we encourage submissions that challenge both audiences and performers to think deeply about who we are and what we are creating. Works should be original, bold, thought-provoking, and unafraid to venture into the fears, hopes and anxieties we are all experiencing, perhaps offering a perspective that we truly need.

Winners in each category will be workshopped for one week through the prestigious Markland Studio with a professional cast of actors, culminating in two live performances in December 2025 in either New York or Los Angeles. Winners will be notified on December 1st, with an official public announcement on December 5th. Each winning playwright is invited to attend the performances and participate in a live Q&A session with the audience. The submission fee is $35.00 (non-refundable), and all entries must be received by November 17th, 2025. This is an extraordinary opportunity for playwrights to have their voices heard and their visions realized on stage.

*Submissions must be Original, in PDF format with current contact information on title page. Writers retain all ownership rights to submitted works.

**100 Submissions will be considered for each NY and LA. Your submission fee will hold a submission spot until the final deadline.
