Fundamentals sometimes get lost, or forgotten or just never learned along the way.
But these simple and at times, vital, elements are aspects that allow you to move
more freely, not having to work so hard and even, cut noise out of your head. Scene
work is an explorative play exercise that allows for original interpretation of a script.
If explorative or play or original or interpretation is not there it falls flat and that’s
where the work begins.

What happens if you are in character as you enter class, or as you prep the stage to go
up? What if we don’t rehearse together? What is the best way to learn lines? How do
I block or choreograph movement? Should I use an accent? How do I find the
character’s body? Do I be still or active? What’s it mean to play against the lines?
Why do I not follow impulse? What’s upstaging? Am I loud enough? What are beats?
What if I lose my line? I can’t stay in it, what do I do? Is there a fourth wall?

Fundamentals answers all these questions and many more, leaving you with a greater
ease and sense of play. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been at it; a lot of the
simple techniques, structures and know-hows are missed. Let’s go through them and
see if it frees you up, calms your nerves and most of all allows you to act in a way you
know you can.

Every experience level is invited.
