Ten sessions, done at your pace of transition from this version to the next.
There is an infinite number of ways to define life. But one, I feel, captures the expanse of it. An experience of
perpetual becoming.
Becoming is transitioning from one state to another, from one belief to a new belief, from one perspective to another,
from one version of you to the next. We are always in a state of transitioning... changing, evolving, becoming.
There are changes that we want, deeply, dearly, and there are changes that come unexpected. Almost prayed against.
It’s not the actual being in a changed place that is difficult. It is in the transition that is confronting.
The in-between. The not quite out of one version but not yet in a new one. Who you are in a relationship is quite
different than the single version of you. The version of you living from your art is different than the one in a day job.
TRANSITION STAGES
I The Invitation, or the Surprise. I am still working out what this even is.
II The Initiation. I know what I have to do and I have not done it.
III The Exploration. I am in it and I have no idea what I am doing.
IV The Cultivation. Something is forming, slowly, and it’s different.
V The Acceptance. I keep grieving a life I said I wanted to leave.
VI The Implementation. I’m the new version on paper and I have not behaved like them yet.
You don’t arrive at stage one, nobody does. You arrive mid-air, telling yourself a story about why you’re behind. Session one finds where you honestly stand. Feet firmly in reality, hard truth, then incorporating uniquely tailored approaches to whichever stage you are trying to invite, navigate or implement.
WHAT I HAVE RECONGIZED
Over the past twenty years, my work is less about being
any version of yourself, at any specific time. It is about
the process of transitioning.
So, we work in it. Your hunger. Your desire. Your
dreams. Your breath. Your body, which has already
decided things your mind is still debating. The version
of you being left behind, summoned and given a chair
and a voice, you are not done with them and they are
not done with you. The fear, named in one word and
handed a clear task. The grief, given its hour.
Homework between every session. Answer fast. First
thought, ugly, no editing.
WHO IS THIS FOR
Whether it is a new job, a new gig, a new position, a new relationship, a proposal, a separation, a birth, a death, an injury, a
loss of a home, a buying of a home, quitting, rebranding, mid-life crisis, new body, old body, middle age or even retirement.
We exist in a continual push and pull on the balance beam of
transitioning. This is for the version of you who sees the next version but not how to cross the gap.
WHAT THIS IN NOT
Not therapy, and I’m not a therapist. If you are in crisis, or in the first raw weeks of a loss, you need a clinician and I will tell you so. Not career strategy either. Your representatives handle the career. This is the work underneath it. The engine.
You are a one and only and the way you transition is uniquely your own... I illuminate your process, so you’re doing it with intention and confidence. And in so doing, feel a little more like you are at the steering wheel, rather than getting on and off a bus, hoping that it is going to your destination. It starts with a conversation, an honest exchange about where you are and what you are ready for. You are worth fighting for.
